This is my top 10 list of movies, since everyone is posting theirs. I wouldn't say that it's obligatory to like these movies in order to be my friend, but if you can't appreciate these movies in one way or another, then there's something wrong with you.
10. Y Tu Mama Tambien
9. American History X
8. I <3 Huckabees
7. The King and I (Deoborah Kerr/Yul Brenner version)
6. American Beauty
5. Gattaca
4. Hero (Jet Li version)
3. Rounders
2. 3-Iron
1. A River Runs Through It
Runners up: Almost Famous, Rushmore, Man on Fire, V for Vendetta, Fight Club, and Keeping the Faith
I put Wong Kar-Wai movies in a different category. I used to put Chungking Express in my top 10, but it's his movies as a group that I like. I don't think they have a particular message individually, you have to commit to watching all of them.
I haven't seen a lot of big movies from 2007 yet, so I guess if any of them are any good, they might make the cut. I did see Juno, and I wouldn't put it in my top 10. Movies have to pass a test of re-watchability for me. I'd say I've seen A River Runs Through It at least 15 times, and I still like watching it.

i've only seen 4 of those movies. I forgot about your perils of trying to find 3-Iron at Best Buy. And i still think Fight Club is a stupid movie. the twist at the end makes no sense at all, that's what killed the movie for me. M Night Shymalamanalmanlan makes more believeable twists, and he's legally retarded.
Didn't make any sense? He has multiple personalities and then he shoots himself in the face, that's all. Oh, and I have 3-Iron now. I ordered it online from circuit city.
Fight Club is a classic. I like when he wants to destroy something beautiful, so he smashes up Jared Leto's pretty face.
(also, I too have only seen 4 of the movies in your top 10 and 3 of your runners up).
If I'd made a list five years ago (and I probably did on another blog), Rounders would've made my list as well, but that was before everybody and their grandmother got swept up in the poker craze that birthed countless poker television programs. If I had a nickel for every asshole that's tried to pass off a line from Rounders as his own while sitting with me at a poker table, I'd probably have somewhere between 40 and 50 cents. So obnoxious...
i like the color change (but the pink was cool too). what i don't like is the lack of new content! give me something to read to occupy the time i should be spending on work!
